-Good Press-
- The Irish Times –
Confounding categorization, loaded with an almost intimidating energy, loads of humour, and some awesome wig out moments, these boys have some serious talent and entertainment chops.
- Boiler Room -
'The Vine’ takes as much from the likes of Afrobeats super-producer
Don Jazzy as it does from Snarky Puppy. Produced and mixed by
Kwes, the band’s luscious auto-tune sprinkled harmonies to float freely
until reaching a definite contender for percussion break of the year.
- Pigeons &Planes -
(Donegal) is a weird and wonderful track—so get sucked into Meltybrains? world with “Donegal,”.
- Clash Magazine -
I saw the name Meltybrains? and figured: with a name like that, of course
I’m going to have a listen. And I’m glad I did. I’m not sure where, exactly,
on the sprawling spirograph of overlapping contemporary genres this Irish outfit
sits, but I know it’s a place that I’ll be happy to return to.
(Is there a genre called “AnimalCollective-y-But-A-Bit-Not”?).
- Dan Hegarty (2FM) -
If you haven't ever seen this band live, do, because it's something to behold.
- 7 Billion People –
For their sheer ability to make a performance of the entire show alone, you should catch Meltybrains? because they are one of the few Irish bands I see reaching unbelievable heights shortly and you don’t want to say you weren’t there to see it happen.
- BBC -
They literally blew my mind. They're such accomplished musicians. All I can say is see Meltybrains? when you can. They are incredible live.
- Broadsheet.ie -
If they hadn’t transcended the norms of post-genre labelling and pigeonholing before, they certainly have now, with powerful pop songcraft and a keen sense of dynamic.
- The Huffington Post –
My highlight of Knockanstockan and easily set to be one of 2014’s breakout acts, these fantastic performers put on a stunning live show and have carved out a very particular visual image.
- Hunt & Gather –
Meltybrains? truly sound like nothing else you’re likely to hear anywhere on the contemporary music scene. People less impressive than these have had religions based around them, and if ever a band deserved the cultish adoration of its followers, Meltybrains? most certainly do.
- Brendan Canty (Feel Good Lost) -
Their live show is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and unique shows in Ireland if not the world. From start to finish it will leave you enthralled and totally entranced in their vibe, immersing you in their blistering energy.
- Don’t Watch Me Dancing –
Meltybrains? are doing something special. They are undoubtedly weird, but that’s what is particularly captivating about them: no one is doing electronic music quite like this right now.
- Nialler9 –
With each new song, the band showcase a different side of themselves, perhaps one they did not know existed until it manifests and with it comes a sense of identity. Who knows what 2016 will bring from the gang, but that’s part of their appeal.
- University Observer –
Meltybrains? are a regular fixture on the festival scene, having just played the main Body & Soul stage at this year’s Electric Picnic. Rumours of actual brain mutilation are yet to be confirmed, but they’ve been lauded for their captivating and enthralling stage performances.
- InDublin.ie –
What began as hip hop has progressed into a wonderfully weird fusion of experimental pop, post rock, jazz and pretty much every musical genre imaginable. But it’s not merely the music that makes Meltybrains? worth seeing, it’s the entirely unique visual show that accompanies their performance.
- GoldenPlec –
It was at Electric Picnic on the Body & Soul mainstage that the Melty’s bandwagon turned from ‘one for the future’ to ‘ones for right now’ – a special turning point in the band’s progression perhaps?
